Freedom. From night coding to Luzia
Stepping aside from my usual posts, I want to dive into a key driver behind creating Luzia — the essence of freedom.
Stepping aside from my usual posts, I want to dive into a key driver behind creating Luzia — the essence of freedom.
I stumbled upon a striking definition of freedom during a GPT session (apologies if someone’s quote, can’t find a reference)
Freedom is that exhilarating sense of potential, unbound by constraints, bringing to life the desires of your mind and body.
From that definition, freedom emerges from two avenues: the liberty to act and the liberty to create.
My friends are well aware of my fixation with the former. Hence, I’ll spare further details. The latter, however, the freedom to create, is where Luzia’s magic lies.
Freedom to create
I’ve always been envious of artists and musicians who could manifest their inner emotions into something tangible and beautiful. During my university days, I discovered this same creative power lay within coding. The ability to craft software that wasn’t just functional for me but beneficial to others was exhilarating. Many nights were spent with my coding companion, Helena, going above and beyond on our university projects, not out of necessity but for the sheer thrill of it.
However, transitioning into consulting, I found this creative spark gradually dimming, despite my attempts to keep it alive through various projects from a couple of Alexa skills (pregnancy fruits and read the Wod) and my foray into home automation during the pandemic.
Then came 2022, when Copilot and ChatGPT reignited my passion for coding. After a decade-long hiatus, I was suddenly back to building practical tools and learning new concepts (like transformer neural networks) while engaging in thought-provoking discussions (some of the latest in my medium).
This resurgence quickly turned into an addiction.
So, how does Luzia factor into this journey? Luzia was born out of a weekend project, initially aimed at demonstrating GPT’s capabilities in a Growth Hacking session focused on AI. What started as Chatify soon evolved into Luzia, a hyper-accessible personal assistant designed to democratize the feeling of creative freedom, beginning with my mother. The prototype, version 0, was shared with a small group, setting off a chain of events leading to Luzia’s success.
Today, Luzia is a beacon of freedom for millions. Imagine a young artist struggling to articulate her vision; Luzia steps in, crafting the perfect artist statement. Or a student buried under dense academic material; Luzia breaks it down, making knowledge accessible and empowering them to reach for that elusive scholarship.
Consider a new immigrant overwhelmed by a new country’s language and legal maze. Luzia goes beyond mere translation, distilling complex legal documents to their essence, ensuring the immigrant isn’t taken advantage of, thus safeguarding their savings.
These are real stories from our users, where Luzia has transcended being just a tool and become a life-altering companion.
Luzia’s mission is straightforward: to sift through the chaos of daily life, offering simplicity, freedom, and an enhanced quality of life to our users. We believe freedom isn’t just a privilege but a baseline we aim to provide daily, and that creativity is at the core it.
